Who we are looking for?
Peoples trucking Ltd currently is looking to hire people as Truck Drivers. If you are enthusiastic about travelling on the road, are committed to safety and have strong work ethics we would like to hear from you. As a truck driver you will help to ensure that our freight and goods reach their destination in safe and timely manner. We therefore need truck drivers who:
- Posses sound judgement: should be able to make good decisions especially under pressure.
- Be organized: being organized is the key to stay on top of your game. A well organized driver can effectively plan their routes, keep track of schedules, maintain accurate logbooks and properly maintain their vehicles, make pre and post trip inspections and submit proper documentation.
- Be reliable: should consistently show up on time, deliver promised freight and follow through on commitment.
- Be a team player: should be able to collaborate with dispatchers, ware house personnel and other drivers to ensure smooth operations.
- Be Physically fit: should be able to handle weights upto 23 kg, willing to do physically demanding work and be comfortable with sitting for long time periods.
- Language, Education and Experience: should be proficient in English, have a secondary school graduation certificate and some experience would be an added plus.
- Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses: Air brake (Z) endorsement, Driver’s license (class 1 or A)
Key Responsibilities
As a Truck driver at Peoples Trucking Ltd you will be responsible for
- Loading and unloading goods
- Operating and driving straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
- Overseeing condition of vehicle and inspecting tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
- Performing emergency roadside repairs
- Performing pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
- Receiving and relaying information to central dispatch
- Recording cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
- Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo.
